Day One: The Memorial Day Debaucle

So, it's day one of my new life, and what a life it's proving to be. I already feel very - Oh... wait, I'm sorry. What did you say? Oh, well, yes, it is technically day two of my diet. Technically. But yesterday was Memorial Day, and, in a fit of goodwill and out of respect for those have served this great country, I ate a hot dog and two chocolate chip cookies and an itty bitty bit of orange sherbert. But it's all good and it's okay: it was a holiday and I responsibly acknowledged my desire to eat awful foods. The good news? It was a hot dog, not a freaking full out pasta buffet. Orange sherbert is like, orange flavored ice, really, and cookies... well, okay, you got me there.

I don't feel guilty at all, though I do admit that only a dolt forgets about - and then attempts to start a diet on -Memorial Day. Geez, Louise.

Anyway, I consider today day one, and thus far, I'm feeling pretty good. This morning, I mixed one of the Mocha Cream shake packets, half a cup of skim milk, and 6 ice cubes in my little blender... and OH MY GOD. Insanely good - for real, and not in the way that diet foods are "good," either; in fact, I would take that blended drink over my Tim Horton's Iced Capp Supreme every single damn day of the week. To make it even more believable, I topped it with a tablespoon of Cool Whip and a drizzle of Walden Farms Free Chocolate syrup. Amazingly yummy and only 100 calories with 15 grams of protein!

I have been finding myself a little bit hungry between meals, but it's nothing that a Sargento string cheese can't handle (8 grams of protein! 1 carbohydrate! 80 flipping tiny calories!). Aside from the almost-hourly hunger pang, I actually feel pretty great, and am fairly confident that eventually my body will adjust to having a smaller volume of food. Because of my Memorial Day (hereafter referred to as the "Duh") Debaucle, weigh-ins will officially be on Tuesdays. But here, ladies and germs, are the "Before" measurements:

Calf: 21"
Thigh: 33"
Hip: 54"
Waist: 52"
Bust: 50"
Bicep: 23"

My goal by September 10 is to lose 50 pounds, which is, on a meal replacement diet, quite feasible. So I'm off to a good start... today.
