Abandon ship!

What's better than spending a snowy, blustery December morning inside of a warm apartment? Well, it's certainly not spending a snowy, blustery December morning inside of a cockroach-riddled apartment ... with no heat.

Because it is impossible to keep the warm air from the furnace inside of our apartment (thank you, millions of cracks and crevices that Maintenence STILL hasn't filled) and the gas bill gets absolutely outrageous in the process, my sister and I rely on a series of electric space heaters to keep our apartment moderately warm. It saves us a lot of money because electricity is included in our rent because it has yet to be split in this old house. Normally, this works to our advantage; however, whenever a neighbor trips a fuse and our electricity goes out and they forget or refuse to reset it, our apartment gets insanely cold insanely fast. So I bumbled to the basement this morning and reset the breaker and now I'm sitting under a blanket on the sofa in my 54 degree apartment thinking of ways to retailiate against my neighbor. I just don't get why he didn't reset it last night. Apparently, they don't have fuse boxes in Mexico.

Mercifully, I'm making preparations for my move at the end of the month. It's going to be quite a process to ensure that we take no little critters along in the move, but I think my sister and I have a fairly comprehensive plan of action to put into place. I'm pissed that our landlord denied any roach infestations when all of my neighbors agreed that there are multiple yearly battles with the pests, but whatever. Tuesday I'm going home to start clearing out my old room to make room for my stuff in the move. I'm so ready! It's going to suck to have to drive so much this winter, but it's going to be SO worth it in the long run. I miss my family and my cats and not seeing bugs on the walls or under my shampoo bottle or on the toilet seat. Gah.

  1. Eeek that is so gross! I don't think that I could deal with all those roaches! Remember, if you need help with the move we can help!
